This week on HO3 we have been looking at the 5 senses, what better way to test our senses by making something delicious in the HO3 kitchen like some peppermint brownies.

The star ingredient for today’s dessert is PEPPERMINT! If you don’t know what peppermint is here are just a few facts.
Peppermint is an aromatic plant, created from the blending of 2 other plants, watermint and spearmint. It is used to add flavor or fragrance to foods, cosmetics, soaps, toothpaste, mouthwashes, and other products. But be careful squad members, not everything that says
peppermint is edible, some things like peppermint oils are used only for your body and not to be eaten.

Benefits of Peppermint

Peppermint has health benefits for sore tummies such as constipation squad members. This is because it ​​can relax the muscles in the digestive tract, making the bowels looser. This can help relieve constipation. It can also help with nausea, skin conditions, headaches, colds, and flu.

You’ll need:

  • Flour
  • Baking cocoa
  • Eggs
  • Salt
  • Baking powder
  • Sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Peppermint sweets( chocolate)


  • Measuring cups
  • Mixing spoon

  • Bowl for dry ingredients
  • Bowl for wet ingredients

  • Bowl for the glaze

You need to preheat the oven to 180 degrees, please ask an adult to help you with this step squad member.

  1. Firstly add 3/4 oil and 2 cups of sugar; beat until the ingredients are blended together.
